Tutoring Program (ETP), organized an end of year meeting of volunteers with two representatives from the Ministry of Education’s English Inspectorate. Volunteers gave warm reports of their experiences teaching in the Haifa junior and middle schools and certificates of appreciation were presented to the volunteer tutors.

He also tells this true story about the late Rabbi Julius Goldberg who was hospitalized with severe back pains, and told he would have to miss Yom Kippur services. 'That is not going to happen,' he decided, and all drugged up he went to the synagogue and delivered the sermon. Afterwards congregants told him it was the greatest sermon they had ever heard. "And you know what", Rabbi Goldberg confesses, when telling the story, "I have no idea what I said".

No money is allowed at Midburn – "everything was given or taken … it's gifting, plain and simple". Everyone pitches in with whatever talents he/she can contribute. And at the end 3,000 "burners" leave the desert as spotless as they found it. It proves to be spiritual experience – "Sometimes something weird and wonderful happens" says Larry Butchins.
